On the eve of the great alpine bushfires (burnt 1.2million hectares in Victoria)/Canberra bushfires 2003 - From the summit of Australia's highest peak, Mt Kosciousko 2228m ASL December 30, 2002. From this vantage point, fires could be seen to the south - these fires eventually caused my back road route home along the 'once' mighty Snowy river to be significantly detoured.
